Information about words in this company name or address
paul
Recorded in over two hundred spelling forms throughout the Christian world this surname is of Roman origins. The surname spellings range from examples such as Paul, Paule, and Pawle in England, Paolo and Paulo , Pauli and Polo , Palle , Pabel and Pal , to all the patronymic and diminutive forms such as Paulson, Pauly, Paolozzi, Pavek, and many, many more. However spelt the name derives from the Latin word "paulus" meaning small, which became a baptismal term of endearment, as in ''small person''. It is said that St Paul, having previously been Saul, adopted the name after his conversion to Christianity, and there is no doubt that the popularity of the name throughout Europe, largely derives from his well recorded and popular missionary work.
high street
High Street, or the High Street, is a metonym for the generic name of the primary business street of towns or cities, especially in the United Kingdom. It is usually a focal point for shops and retailers in city centres, and is most often used in reference to retailing.
The equivalent in the United States, Canada, and Ireland is Main Street, a term also used in smaller towns and villages in Scotland. In Jamaica, North East England, and some sections of Canada and the United States, the usual term is Front Street. In Cornwall and some places in Devon, the equivalent is Fore Street; in south Lancashire the most common name for a "main street" is Market Street. In Canada King and Queen Street are often used instead of Main Street, which is more predominant in the United States.
northallerton
Northallerton College, formerly known as Northallerton Grammar School, was founded in 1323. Parts of the old school building can be seen adjacent to All Saints'' Church near the north end of Northallerton High Street. The Grammar School moved to its current site in 1909.
