Brompton is a village and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England, about two miles north of Northallerton. According to the 2001 UK census, Brompton parish had a population of 1,912.
Brompton is an ancient village near Chatham, in Medway, England. Its name means ''a farmstead where broom grows´. Today Brompton is a small residential area between Chatham Dockyard and Gillingham.
Brompton dates back to the 17th century, and grew rapidly in the 18th century to accommodate the fast-growing dockyard workforce. When war with France recommenced in 1778, it was necessary to strengthen the dockyard defences.
Brompton (or Brompton-by-Sawdon) is a village and civil parish in the Scarborough district of North Yorkshire, England, about 8 miles (13 km) west of Scarborough itself, close to the North York Moors and on the A170 road. Northallerton College, formerly known as Northallerton Grammar School, was founded in 1323. Parts of the old school building can be seen adjacent to All Saints'' Church near the north end of Northallerton High Street. The Grammar School moved to its current site in 1909.
